Commanding the Four Winds: Mobilizing Heaven's Resources for Breakthrough
In Ezekiel 37:9, the Lord commands the prophet: "Prophesy to the breath, prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, Thus says the Lord GOD: Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live." This passage holds one of the most powerful keys to supernatural breakthrough.
What Are the Four Winds?
Dr. Francis Myles teaches that the four winds represent divine movement, revival, and mobilization. In Scripture, wind is consistently associated with the Holy Spirit (John 3:8, Acts 2:2). The "four winds" represent the totality of God's spiritual resources being mobilized from every direction.
The four winds appear in several key passages:
- Genesis 1:2 — The Spirit of God moved (like wind) over the face of the waters before creation
- Ezekiel 37:9 — The four winds breathe life into dry bones
- Daniel 7:2 — The four winds of heaven stir up the great sea
- Revelation 7:1 — Four angels hold back the four winds of the earth
The Valley of Dry Bones
Ezekiel 37 is the ultimate picture of hopeless situations being transformed. The prophet stood in a valley full of dry bones — completely dead, completely hopeless. God asked him, "Can these bones live?" Ezekiel's answer was honest: "O Lord GOD, You know."
Then God gave him a two-part strategy:
- Prophesy to the bones — Speak God's Word over the dead situation
- Prophesy to the winds — Command the breath of God to bring life
The first step brought structure — the bones came together, sinews and flesh appeared. But they were still dead. It was the second step — commanding the four winds — that brought life.
Applying This to Your Life
Many believers are stuck between step one and step two. They have spoken God's Word, they have prayed, they have done everything they know to do — but the situation still feels lifeless. The missing piece is learning to command the four winds.
Commanding the four winds means:
- Calling upon the Holy Spirit to breathe life into your dead situations
- Mobilizing heaven's resources from every direction — north, south, east, and west
- Prophetically declaring that what God has promised will come to pass
- Refusing to accept the current state as the final state
A Declaration for the Four Winds
"I prophesy to the four winds: Come from the north, south, east, and west. Breathe upon every dead area of my life. Breathe upon my finances, my health, my relationships, my calling. I command the wind of the Holy Spirit to bring revival, restoration, and resurrection power. In the name of Jesus, I declare that these dry bones shall live!"
Your Breakthrough Is in the Wind
The same God who breathed life into Adam, who parted the Red Sea with a strong east wind, and who filled the upper room with a rushing mighty wind — that same God is ready to mobilize the four winds on your behalf. You just need to learn how to command them.
